and it has been so cold all week. i'm looking forward to the weekend. >> since sandy went through, our temperatures have been above average and finally made to 60 degrees yesterday and that's the trend for the weekend, not a chilly. that won't last forever but it's landing on the weekend which is a good thing. to get the warmerir in here, we really have to have a warm front come in and that's the process going to right now. you can see on the radar, don't be put off by this. at the moment, clear skies, crescent moon out there this morning up in the eastern sky. the moon has been rising for the past few hours. but we do have with this warm front and warmer air coming in from the west, a little bit of cloud and shower activity. it's almost just sprinkles in the mountains of pennsylvania going through johnstown right now, moving in our direction. we could see a few clouds this morning and maybe a sprinkle or brief shower but basically the weekend forecast is a good one and i'll have details coming up in a couple of minutes. >> a bombshell resignation washington is our big story this morni

victims of super storm sandy. the volunteers got on buses at city hall and went to some of the hardest hit areas like staten island. they are sorting goods, checking on residents, delivering supplies. there are 36 diaster recovery centers in new york city with more to come. >>> while things are improving nearly two weeks after the storm, there are plenty of people who still do not have power. fox's peter doocey has more on why some are running out of patience. >> reporter: almost two weeks after super storm sandy passed through, some people are still without company. the largest company on long island, lipa now being blamed for poor preparation. >> i don't believe what they did was adequate. i don't believe it was right. part of it is the system design and part of it is just their performance and the fact that these utilities are a monopoly. >> reporter: government-owned lipa asked other utility companies for 700 workers to help them restore power but they ended needing 10,000. the companies that lipo contracted to help them clean up the mess said they are doing extremely well. >> we are p

sandy crashed ashore in the northeast. crews still working to restore power to 12000 homes and businesses in new york and new jersey. at least 4,000 displaced residents are still staying in shelters. fema has offered $450 million. governor cuomo plans to ask the federal government for $30 billion in disaster aid. the red cross says it's received $117 million in donations. they also say their response was been near flawless. some residents in hard hit areas disagree. they say the help has been minimal, sporadic, and very hard to find. >> we haven't seen red cross at all. red cross hasn't offered any assistance up until yesterday. they take people's hard working money to assist people, and when push comes to shove, they don't assist. >> i think that we are near flawless so far in this operation. i'm just so proud of everything that we are doing on the ground. >> the red cross says sandy creates unique challenges. it's a cold weather hurricane, and it struck in a highly populateded area. they have already handed out 5 million meals and snacks to people in need. >>> the veteran
